RefuTales is a European non-governmental organisation giving refugees across Europe a voice. With in-depth profiles we break the anonymity of the faceless “refugee masses”. We empower refugees by giving them a platform to air their views on life in Europe. By interviewing refugees from across Europe and publishing in several languages, we inform a European audience about a European challenge.
We, a young, international and fast-growing organisation with more than 10 committed volunteers are searching for a Volunteer Translator (English to French).
What does the job entail?
You will translate articles originally written in English to French. Your translation will be published in French. Per month, you will translate around one to two articles of around a thousand words per month.
What are the requirements?
Candidates should have an excellent written command of French and a good reading comprehension of English as well as interest in the stories of refugees.
Helpful but not required are: a higher education in French literature or translation; experience as a writer; and being a native speaker of French.
What do you get out of it?
At RefuTales, you will become part of a vibrant community of dedicated volunteers that shares a common mission. Your translation will be core to our pan-European functioning.
You will be publicly credited for your translation work, listed as a volunteer on our website and receive feedback from an experienced UK editor. If you wish to go beyond translation, there is a possibility to meet and interview refugees and write up their story for publication on RefuTales.
How can you apply?
The position is currently open. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to Cornelius Roemer by email via firstname.lastname@example.org. The starting time is flexible.
